The book is devoted to one of the important and still insufficiently studied episodes of the famous Berezinsky operation of 1812. Based on documents and eyewitness accounts, the author tells about the history, military path, the fate of generals, officers and soldiers of the French rearguard units under the command of L. Partuno. Having accepted a battle with a many times the strongest enemy in a completely hopeless situation, they showed stamina and heroism, sacrificed themselves, but the survivors, captured, they were unfairly condemned in the 29th bulletin of the “Great Army” and fought all their lives to restore their good name.
